Panasonic Sportlife - Olaf Ludwig - 1992 - Cycling jersey

This is an extremely rare and historically important cycling jersey: the official leader's jersey of the World Cup cycling from 1992, worn and signed by the legendary German cyclist Olaf Ludwig. Historical context: • The World Cup (Coupe du Monde): The UCI World Cup was at the time a prestigious, season-long classification that encompassed the major one-day classics (such as the Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo). The leader of this classification wore this specific white jersey with the vertical rainbow bands and the official World Cup logo on the chest. • The winner of 1992: Olaf Ludwig, riding for the Dutch star ensemble Panasonic - Sportlife, won the World Cup in 1992 after a powerhouse season. He sealed his final victory definitively in the closing races of that year. • The team: The jersey bears sponsor logos of Panasonic and Sportlife. This legendary team was led by the well-known team manager Peter Post. The year 1992 was especially historic because the main sponsor Panasonic withdrew from cycling after that season, bringing an end to one of the most successful teams in cycling history. Unique features of this specific shirt 1. Original signature: On the left chest (below his printed name) lies Olaf Ludwig's authentic, original signature in blue ink. 2. UCI logo: On the left side appears the logo of the Fédération Internationale du Cyclisme Professionnel (FICP), the then-professional branch of the UCI. 3. Coupe du Monde '92 badge: On the right side sits the official classification badge printed with the text "Coupe du Monde '92 - FIAC · FICP · AIOCC - World Cup". 4. Collectors item: This is not a standard team jersey (which at the time were blue-yellow-red), but an original classification jersey that was exclusively reserved for the World Cup leader.
