Peasant children's scene. European school. 19th century.

Descriptio Oil on canvas mounted on panel. Measures 24 x 21 cm. An intimate composition featuring a young peasant woman accompanied by two children in an outdoor setting that suggests a rural landscape. The woman, seated in the foreground, holds a small child while another girl, standing beside them, carries a basket of flowers. The rounded, expressive faces, rosy cheeks, and calm demeanor convey an atmosphere of tenderness and simplicity. The vegetation framing the scene and the whitewashed wall in the background, with hints of rural architecture, reinforce the genre character of the work. The brushwork is soft, with a delicate use of color and attention to the details of the folk clothing, especially the red headscarf of the central figure, which provides a strong chromatic accent. This painting belongs to the 19th-century European Romantic tradition, focused on scenes of childhood, peasant life, and serene emotions, influenced by naturalist currents and an idealized view of the everyday. It stands out for its compositional balance, the sensitivity in the treatment of the characters and its narrative warmth. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed.
