Perfume burner - Brass

Beautiful antique Louis XVI / neoclassical scent-burning cassolette, probably made at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th. The piece features a rich relief decoration with medallions depicting feminine profiles in the antique style, garlands of flowers and fruits, fluting, foliage and ornate handles. It rests on a substantial decorative pedestal adorned with a polychrome floral medallion. The upper part consists of a hinged lid, allowing the cassolette to be opened. The whole is made of old metal with a bronze/copper patina. Since the exact composition of the metal has not been analyzed, no attribution to solid bronze is claimed. Dimensions: approximately 31 cm high × 16 cm long × 8 cm wide. Weight: about 2 to 2.5 kg. Good overall condition considering its age, with patina, signs of age and use. One decorative element shows a crack with a small missing piece, clearly visible in the photographs. An especially decorative antique object, ideal for a collection of neoclassical objects, an antique interior or fireplace decoration. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow precise appreciation of the condition and the many details of the piece. Estimated period: late 19th – early 20th century. Origin: European. Category: Art and antique decorative objects.
