Peugeot Frères - Coffee grinder - Cast iron - Antique Coffee Grinder

Antique Peugeot Frères coffee grinder, France, dating from the second half of the 19th century. A substantial and characterful piece combining cast iron, steel and wood, with a hand-operated grinding mechanism and wooden base with drawer. The grinder is in working order and retains an attractive aged appearance with natural patina, wear and surface marks consistent with its age and use. The lid covering the grinding mechanism was originally secured with a small screw. The fastening is no longer functional, so the lid is removable, but it sits correctly and securely in place. It is also shown separately in the photographs. One small fastening nut is missing from the base mounting; this does not affect the stability, appearance or operation of the grinder.
