Pewsey Vale, high in the cool Eden Valley above the Barossa, is the site of Australia's first Riesling, planted by Joseph Gilbert in 1847 and revived by Yalumba in the 1960s. Its dry, lime-and-mineral-scented Riesling is an Australian benchmark that ages with real grace. Josh Raynolds from Vinous and Harvey Steiman from Wine Spectator each gave it a rating of 91, Lisa Perrotti-Brown from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it 90+, and Jancis Robinson gave it 17 out of 20.
