Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. $100 1902 Date Back. Fr. 689. The Girard NB. Charter #592. PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Representative of a veritable pillar of the banking ecosystem in Philadelphia whose history can be traced back to the 1830s. This moderately circulated Series of 1902 $100 Date Back issued by the Girard National Bank (Charter# 592) is a particularly pleasing item in both visual and technical terms. Burdened with lovely signatures attributable to Cashier Charles M. Ashton and President Joseph Wayne (Jr.) and distinct color amplified by a sharp contrast between the Treasury overprint and the engraved balance of the design, bidders have here a veritable treasure for this Philadelphia-based bank where $50s and $100s are surprisingly tough to locate despite a sizable population recorded by the National Bank Note Census. PMG comments "Erasure." Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500. Click here for certification details from PMG.
