philippe Berthier - Cutlery set (5) - mesh model

Set of antique French oyster forks in a classic Belle Époque style, made in first-grade solid silver (950/1000). The forks have three tines, the outer tine widened to easily cut the oyster. The handles feature an elegant chased linear décor (filet) with nicely ribbed silver mounts (collars). • Origin: France (Paris). • Silversmith: Victor Boivin (fils), based on Rue de Montmorency in Paris. • Dating: Circa 1897 – 1905 (Art Nouveau / Belle Époque period). • Hallmarks: Fully guaranteed with the Minerva head 1 (French 950 silver standard mark) on the forks and rings, and the diamond-shaped master mark bearing the letter W, a star and a waning moon of Victor Boivin. A beautiful piece of authentic French silverware of high quality from the late nineteenth century.
