Obverse: Conjoined bust of Don Eulalio Carmelo and William Bauermann, "1887-1937/ MANILA" below, legend around "*GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY SOUVENIR* CARMELO & BAUERMANN, INC."; Reverse: Company factory with radiant sun behind, legend above "SERVICE MEDAL AWARD", banner below, "FOR/ /YEARS" within circular border flanked by laurel branches. Beautifully preserved and very attractive, this Gem example boasts crisp design features with smooth chocolate brown patina and a slight iridescent sheen. Vastly superior than normally encountered and should be considered a real treat for collectors. Founded by the Filipino artist-engraver Don Eulalio Carmelo and German Lithographer William Bauermann, these medals were struck to commemorate the Golden Anniversary since their founding in 1887. The firm became the premier Lithography and publishing house in Manila and to mark the occasion they issued souvenir award medals and placed a historical marker at their building.
