PHILIPPINES. Philippine Exposition Bronze Medal, 1939. NGC MS-64. Honeycutt-297a. Dimensions: 39 x 26 mm. By C. Zamora. Red enamel. Obverse: Philippines personified (Maria dela Cruz), factory in background, inscription above "PHILIPPINE EXPOSITION", date below "1939"; Reverse: Blank, stamped "C. ZAMORA". Wholly original looking and very attractive, this lovely example displays rich mottled brassy patina with intact enamel. Boldly struck with well formed design features and smooth surfaces. A pleasing example of the type that is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters. Due to the outbreak of World War II, this year was the final iteration of the annual Manila Carnival permanently ending the 31-year tradition. Estimate: $100 - $150.
