PICASSO (Pablo). Picasso: Early Years and Beginnings. Drawings 1893–1905. Paris, Réunion des Musées Nationaux, 1991. Catalog of the major exhibition held at the Musée Picasso in Paris and later at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, dedicated to Pablo Picasso’s formative years. The volume brings together a vast collection of drawings, sketchbooks, studies, and early works created between the artist’s adolescence and the beginning of his Rose Period. This publication sheds light on the origins of Picasso’s visual language and reveals the extraordinary precocity of his talent. The reproductions, accompanied by detailed scholarly notes, allow readers to trace the artist’s evolution from his academic training to the early innovations that already foreshadowed the major artistic shifts of the 20th century. This richly illustrated catalog has become a standard reference for the study of Picasso’s early career.
