Picture frame - Wood, Glass - Lourdes - 65 x 28 cm

Lourdes – old panoramic image with votive gifts – France - 20th century Professionally shipped – over 1000 five-star reviews worldwide. Old panoramic image of the Grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes, with the apparition grotto at the center and the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. Particularly interesting is the large quantity of votive gifts visible around the grotto. On the left hang numerous crutches and walking sticks left by pilgrims as ex-voto, as thanks for a healing received or in the hope of one. Additionally, around the shrine are flowers, candles and other devotional offerings visible. The photo thus forms a striking historical document of the votive culture closely linked to Lourdes and the pilgrimage tradition. The panoramic image also shows the altar, the closure of the grotto, and a few pilgrims present, and is mounted in a simple profiled wooden frame. An interesting historical-devotional piece, particularly in combination with a collection of old ex-votos, votive gifts, or historical molds for wax ex-votos. Dimensions including frame: 65 × 28 cm. Signs of age and use on the image and frame, including discoloration and wear appropriate to the age. Please view the photos carefully for the condition. Shipped with track & trace
