Pierre Courthion / Raoul Dufy - Suite Montagnarde - 1932

Fascinating numbered edition 96 on English Featherweight and illustrated with 6 original drawings by Raoul Dufy - The title evokes a mountainous world interpreted not as a simple documentary description of the landscape, but as an artistic transposition of the mountain, its shapes, lights, rhythms and the particular atmosphere it exudes - Pierre Courthion brings to the work his view as a writer and art critic, while Raoul Dufy transforms the natural world into a plastic language founded on simplification of forms, spontaneity of the stroke and the importance given to color - The mountain thus becomes a space of sensations and impressions, where the lines of the reliefs, the valleys, the dwellings, the trees, the paths and the human silhouettes can be reduced to a few essential signs enabling the spirit of the landscape to be conveyed rather than its exact reproduction - Pierre Courthion / Raoul Dufy - Suite Montagnarde - 1932 - Editions Lumière - de 6 dessins Good binding condition, the volume in its original brown half-leather with corners, marbled boards, light wear, a few minor defects on the cover, speckled edges, spine with raised bands, gilded lettering and author’s name on a maroquin piece - Good interior condition, some stains, title page printed in green and black, work enriched with 6 original drawings by Raoul Dufy, a pleasing copy numbered 96 on English Featherweight, marbled endpapers in good condition - Delivery service guaranteed within a few days -
