All auctions / Porcelain & Pottery / Pieter Joseph Laigneil - Baluster vase - Ceramic - Vase with maritime decor

A ceramic vase from the Flemish Art Nouveau period Designed in Kortrijk by Pierre Laigneil (1870-1950) Only in 1898 did Laigneil start his own company in Kortrijk after a breach of contract with Leo Maes. In the First World War he was obliged to halt production. After the war the warehouses were rebuilt and production of Flemish earthenware resumed. However there was no longer a thriving period, and in 1926 this pottery was shut down and sold. This marked the end of the well-known Flemish pottery. The vase stands a total height of no less than 50 cm, which in this case makes it one of the taller and more unusual sizes. The decoration is very fresh and extremely uncommon to find with this maritime scene. The vase weighs 4 kg. Shipped carefully packed and insured.
