Highly collectible 1971 UK second pressing of Pink Floyd's Ummagumma, released on Harvest under catalogue number SHDW 1/2. This early UK reissue is distinguished by the classic yellow/green Harvest labels bearing the boxed EMI logo, a label design introduced during 1971. These copies still retain the earlier "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." rim text, placing them firmly within the early Harvest period and making them notably different from later pressings. What makes this particular example especially interesting is the presence of the original EMI Pink Floyd discography insert. These loose catalogue inserts were easily separated from the album over the decades, so finding a copy still accompanied by the insert is a very nice collector detail that enhances both the completeness and desirability of this copy. Ummagumma is one of the most unusual albums in the Pink Floyd catalogue: a double LP divided between live and studio material. The first record captures the band during their late-1960s psychedelic period, including extended performances of "Astronomy Domine," "Careful With That Axe, Eugene," "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" and "A Saucerful Of Secrets." The second LP consists of experimental studio material, with each member of Pink Floyd contributing their own individual section. The album is housed in the iconic Hipgnosis gatefold sleeve, featuring the famous recursive photograph of the band surrounded by repeated versions of the same image. ⸻ Sleeve (EX): The original gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition and presents extremely well for its age. The artwork remains clean and attractive, with only a small corner bend visible on the rear. Otherwise a particularly well-preserved example. Insert (Original): Original EMI Pink Floyd discography insert included. Disc 1 (VG+): A very nice copy with good original shine and normal light signs of previous play. Disc 2 (EX): The second record is in excellent condition and presents very cleanly with only minimal signs of handling or previous play. Labels: Yellow/green Harvest labels with boxed EMI logo and "The Gramophone Co.
