Pipe - Steel, Bone

Pipe - Steel, Bone

Opium pipe originating from Vietnam, central region Hue. Purchased during a trip in 1990. Handmade craft and sculpture, handcrafted. Buffalo horn, metal sculpture, noble materials for display pipes in Vietnam. Condition: Wear consistent with age; 1990 is a sign of authenticity. Repairs - welding - on the base support of the pipe display is a plus. Dimensions: Traditional opium pipes have characteristic lengths and proportions, often longer than Western pipes. Total length 50 cm. The opium pipe is closely linked to the social and economic history of Vietnam, with widespread use from the 17th to the early 20th century. After the progressive prohibition of opium, these objects have become valuable witnesses of a bygone era.
