ONE OF A KIND: ORGANIC ELEGANCE IN MOTION ONE OF A KIND, this fascinating and rare ceremonial pitcher-trophy bears the authentic historical engraving "Golf Bordelais – Prix Jean Bermond" (January 17-24, 1904) — featuring entirely hand-crafted motifs where the exuberant naturalism of Art Nouveau meets the poetry of sport. An exclusive commission piece signed by the prestigious German manufacturer Imperial Zinn (Breitenbach & Günther, ref. 4680), it represents a pinnacle of Belle Époque applied arts, uniting the virtuosity of art pewter with the high-society prestige of the links. THE GRAND CRUS TROPHY AND THE PRESTIGE OF THE BELLE ÉPOQUE Offered during this inaugural competition under the impetus of local pioneering families, this pitcher stands at the heart of the golden age of high-society circles, reflecting the art of living of a society where sport celebrated excellence: THE GRAND CRUS TROPHY: Far more than a mere display object, it sealed the tradition of post-round celebrations, designed to pour and share the greatest Bordeaux crus at the end of the effort. THE CLUB: Founded in 1900 on the Lande du Pezou, this historic club immediately established itself as one of the five oldest in France, shaped by an aristocracy and cosmopolitan upper bourgeoisie intimately tied to the Bordeaux wine trade and elite patronage. DETAILED ANALYSIS AND FUNCTIONALITY STRUCTURE: Slender silhouette, both cylindrical and bulging, resting on a stable base and flanked by the characteristic handle of the Jugendstil style. DECOR: Highly rigorous naturalistic bas-reliefs (lobed leaves, samaras, tendrils), testifying to an absolute mastery of art pewter. LID: Hinged lid following the movement of plant veins, topped by a remarkable thumbpiece sculpted in the shape of a stylized double samara, ensuring smooth and ergonomic handling. MAKER'S MARK: Punched and stamped at the base with the famous Imperial Zinn griffin (Ref. 4680). TECHNICAL DATASHEET - Material: Antique solid pewter (Zinn) - Style: Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Belle Époque - Manufacturer: Imperial Zinn (Breitenbach & Günther hallmark, Ref. 4680) - Provenance: Golf Bordelais – Prix Jean Bermond (1904), with engraved inscription. - Period: Circa 1904 - Dimensions: Total height 35.5 cm | Maximum width (from handle to spout) 22 cm | Base 14.5 cm - Weight: 1840 g - Condition: Very good general condition.
