Sommerso bowl in amber and emerald, attributed to the Bohemian glass factory Chřibská. 1960s - 1970s A core of honey amber lies beneath an emerald-green layer, all enclosed in clear glass. Six points are pulled out and end in clear glass tips. The organic form rests on a lobed foot. On a table or on a windowsill the light colors the bowl from gold to emerald. For this object there is also a Buy Now price set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting. Description: A low, open bowl with a six-pointed edge that fans out like a star. The color runs from warm honey amber in the bowl to emerald green along the edge. Where the points are pulled, the clear outer layer becomes visible. Beneath the bowl six lobes form a compact foot, finely ground and polished. Those lobes continue into the points of the rim. At 695 grams the bowl feels heavy in the hand, the weight of thickly cased glass. About the maker: The Chřibská glass hut in northern Bohemia dates back to 1414 and was considered one of Europe’s oldest glassworks. After the war it became part of the Czechoslovak state glass industry, later Sklo Union. Under lead designer Josef Hospodka, a series of sommerso bowls with raised points on a narrow, ground foot emerged from 1958. This series remained in production into the 1990s. This bowl fits that line. In interior design: Fits a boho, mid-century, or eclectic interior, on a coffee table or windowsill. When backlit, the amber glows and the emerald-green rim forms a sharp star. Condition: Good, with signs of use. Ground flat surface shows fine scratches across the surface, most pronounced along the lower edge. Rim and points: no chipping or hairline cracks observed. Light irregularities in the points are part of freely formed glass. See images.
