PLUTARCH. The Lives of the Illustrious Greeks and Romans. S.l. [Geneva], by Guillaume de Laimarié, 1594. A substantial folio volume, red morocco leather, with a double border of two gilt fillets punctuated by a fleur-de-lis in the corners, a medallion of foliage in the center and corresponding spandrels, an ornate spine, and gilt edges (contemporary binding). Minor and skillful restorations to the binding; endpapers and lining replaced; spine slightly thinned; slight rubbing on the lower edges.
