Commemorative gold medal 900/1000 dedicated to Pope John XXIII (1958-1963) - Vatican On the obverse, profile portrait of the sovereign pontiff wearing the tiara, surrounded by the legend « IOANNES XXIII · PONT. MAX. ». On the reverse, the pontifical arms of John XXIII, accompanied by the keys of Saint Peter and the tiara, under the legend « CONCILIUM OECUMENICUM VATICANUM II », in reference to the Second Vatican Council, opened under his pontificate in 1962. Marking « ARGOR 900/1000 », indicating a gold fineness of 900 thousandths. Weight: 10.00 g, i.e. about 9 g of fine gold. Beautiful specimen, presenting light micro-scratches and handling marks visible in the photographs. Vatican / Switzerland (mint ArGor), 20th century, during the pontificate of John XXIII.
