Porcelaine de Paris (Vieux Paris) - Magnificent Antique coffee set. Gold & Blue Monogram. 19th century Bring a touch of refinement to your table with these magnificent antique tableware by prestigious Manufacture Porcelaine de Paris (often called Vieux Paris) This elegant antique porcelain service showcases classic French craftsmanship from the mid 19th century. Characterised by its brilliant white translucent paste and gold-gilded trims, the service features an intricate, hand-painted interlocking calligraphic monogram highlighted in shades of blue and gold. The beautiful pieces feature delicate gilt decoration with a border on the handles and rims and monogrammed. A bleu golden monogram forms a richly stylised "PL" letters, inspired by neo-Renaissance, with symmetrical cartouche, side scrolls and a pattern evoking the fleur-de-lis at the base. The composition evokes both Gothic architecture and aristocratic ornamentation. Delightful handles featuring gilded floral motifs, plus a conical finial on the lid. Gilding in good condition. The details are very nicely and richly worked, especially on the handle and the lid. The handles of the sugar bowl and the milk pitcher decorated with a golden Gothic-style monogram and a golden edge. Monogram: A stylised golden letter, which looks like an old "M" typical of personalised decorations. Beautiful relief grip button on the lids representing a bud enhanced with gold. Monograms of this type adorned the tableware made for noble families or the upper bourgeoisie, symbols of belonging and social distinction and evokes the European bourgeois tableware of the 19th century (such as Paris porcelain and Sevres manufactory) The absence of a brand mark: Unlike in Sèvres, many pieces of the “Porcelaine de Paris" do not bear a manufacture signature, because they came out of independent workshops or small artisans. Sometimes there are simple numbers or letters (hallmarks) of workers hidden under the enamel.(our case) Composition; - The beautiful sugar bowl features elegant organic scroll handles and a beautifully contoured matching lid topped with a multi-tiered finial. - The milk pitcher designed in an Art Nouveau-influenced silhouette with a raised pouring lip and an elongated handle. - Coffee Cups: Accented with delicate gold-lined rims, scrolling loop handles, and individual monogram placements.
