Porsche - Diesel AP17 - 1950

GENERAL For the collector, enthusiast or investor, we offer an exceptionally rare Porsche Diesel AP17 from 1950. This legendary model occupies an extremely important place in Porsche history as the very first model to reach the market after the historic collaboration between Ferdinand Porsche and the Allgaier factory, where the iconic 'AP' designation also comes from. Introduced in 1950, this pioneering model ushered in the era of innovative, air-cooled Porsche diesel engines. The AP17 brought advanced technology to agriculture, including a lightweight construction of light metal (aluminium alloy) for the engine block and transmission housing. This specific 1950 example represents the very first, most pure series of this historic design, which at the time laid the blueprint for the later success of Porsche-Diesel. Examples of this exceptional quality and originality are rarely offered on the market. This particular tractor is an original 'matching numbers' specimen, with the engine number and serial number fully matching. This is an important detail that significantly increases the authenticity and the collectible value of this early machine. This item is therefore not only a beautiful possession for the connoisseur, but also an interesting investment for the future. It is a unique opportunity to add one of the most sought-after pieces from early Porsche history to your collection. BODYWORK & PAINT This AP17 was fully restored in 2020 with attention to detail. The tractor was dismantled to the last nut and bolt, completely sandblasted and then professionally spray-painted in a high-quality two-component finish. Thanks to this thorough and skilled approach, the paint remains in a stunning, glossy state with a professional finish. To make the whole package complete and ready for immediate use, the tractor sits on four brand-new tires all around. TECHNICAL The tractor is equipped with the characteristic and reliable air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 18 hp. During the 2020 restoration, the tractor was not only visually refurbished but also technically fully overhauled. The entire wiring was renewed and a completely new electrical system installed. In addition, the mechanics feature a new starter motor, a new generator, and a fresh battery, ensuring the tractor is in excellent and reliable mechanical condition. DOCUMENTS What makes this particular example especially special and valuable for collectors is the exceptional and historically accurate documentation that accompanies it. The original first owner’s letter is still present. Additionally, this tractor has the original German 'Kraftfahrzeugbrief' (vehicle registration document), which bears the authentic historical Porsche Diesel stamps. This level of documented history is exceedingly rare for vehicles of this age. PICK-UP The tractor is viewable and pick-up is possible in Kloosterhaar, Netherlands. It is always recommended to personally inspect the machine beforehand to get a good sense of the high-quality restoration. OTHER INFORMATION The restoration and overhaul have returned this tractor to a state that does justice to its historical value.
