Portrait of a lady, attributed to Raimundo de Madrazo, Spanish School

Descriptio Oil on panel. Dimensions 44 x 16.5 / 30 x 32 cm. Small-format female portrait, rendered with a dark background and a frontal presentation that underscores the sitter’s understated elegance. The figure is dressed in black and enlivened by the contrast of the white lace at the neckline and the light falling on her face, which is defined with softness and precision. The work stands out for its immediacy of execution, the fluidity of the brushstrokes, and the intimate nature of the image. It reflects the Spanish portrait tradition of the late 19th century, which focused on capturing the psychological essence and social standing of the subject. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
