Portrait of a Lady. Italian School. 19th Century

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 110 x 86 cm; 140 x 115 cm. Signed ANDREA GIULIANI (ACTIVE SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY). The subject, seated with a serene expression, wears an elegant black velvet dress with lace details, white gloves, jewelry and a fan in her hand, symbols of status and refinement. The frontal composition and the meticulous attention to detail—from the face to the accessories—refer to 19th-century Italian bourgeois portraiture, marked by realism and social decorum. The chromatic sobriety of the background and the light focused on the face reinforce its solemnity. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
