This necklace takes us back to a summer more than 100 years ago. The sun is already low on the horizon over the Bay of Naples. A light breeze blows from the sea, the lemons are in bloom and in the shade of the stretched canvas, the weary travelers from the north gaze out over the smooth water. How far away is the rain-soaked homeland with its obligations, work and toil. How beautiful and carefree life is here! Hardly any other jewellery material is able to capture this feeling of carefree summer days like genuine Mediterranean coral. Every era, every generation has enjoyed its intense, summery red. The evaluation of coral is based on various criteria, similar to the appraisal of pearls. As a rule of thumb, the larger the coral pearls, the more precious they are. This is because a coral cutter can only cut a few really large pearls from a coral stem, which is how quickly corals branch out and reduce the diameter of their branches. In addition, intense, vibrant colours are valued more highly than dull, bright red tones. This large necklace is made of genuine precious coral from the Mediterranean. The large coral beads, which have a slightly depressed shape, were cut and polished by hand in the years around 1900. Their colour quality and the texture of the surface are wonderfully homogeneous. The red of the coral is warm and slightly salmon-coloured. The pearls are up to 11.5 mm thick. The original clasp, adorned with two additional corals, holds the two strands securely in place. The two graduated strands of the necklace are 60 and 65 cm long so that they can lie parallel on the décolleté. We have had the necklace restrung so that you can wear it safely. An independent expert opinion has also confirmed the quality of the corals. It is included with this summery dream.
