This ring presents two special gemstones. On one side, a cushion-shaped old-cut diamond is set in platinum. The stone weighs around 1.30 ct. and was probably cut around the middle of the 19th century. Opposite it is an emerald in an octagonal step cut. It is set in yellow gold. It is an emerald from Colombia, the best and most precious region of origin for emeralds. As if to never let the glow of the jungle go out, it shines in an intense, tropical green. The stone is moderately treated with natural oil to improve its purity. There is no evidence of any further treatment, as is often applied to gemstones today. This is another advantage of antique jewelry, as many of the modern treatments that reduce the value of gemstones had not even been invented at the time. The design combines the two cut gemstones to form a so-called "toi-et-moi" ring, which means "you and me" in French. The two gemstones represent two lovers who meet in harmony - and yet as individuals - in a piece of jewelry. A beautiful symbol for any partnership. The yellow gold ring is set with platinum on the shoulders and further small diamonds. We received this well-preserved piece of jewelry from Hanover.
