Prosper Montagné

An essential pairing for bibliophiles and lovers of culinary history, bringing together two monuments of French gastronomy published by Librairie Larousse. The first volume is the famous Larousse Gastronomique by Prosper Montagné. It is a reprint dating from October 1955, which reproduces the contents and the legal deposit of the original 1938 edition. This true reference encyclopedia of cuisine is richly illustrated. It is paired with the reference work Cuisine et Vins de France, printed in July 1953. This book was written under the direction of Curnonsky, an author who was crowned "Prince of Gastronomes" by his peers in 1927. This set, presented in superb black and burgundy period bindings, testifies to the golden age of great French cuisine and constitutes valuable documentation for any enthusiast of old culinary books.
