Splendid specimen of Fluorite and Calcite from Stanhope, County Durham, England, United Kingdom, a rare and sought-after locality for this mineral species. The Fluorite crystals display a characteristic well-developed cubic habit, purple/gray in color; the violet hues are particularly accentuated when exposed to natural light as shown in the photo, the crystals are arranged on a matrix of quartz and white crystalline calcite. Under UV lamp the piece shows an intense blue fluorescence, a feature that adds further charm and mineralogical value to the piece.
