Q Wang 12 - Montmartre, un café au temps des Années folles

Q Wang 12 — Montmartre, a Café in the Roaring Twenties Born in Shenzhen in 1984, Qin Wang discovered painting in 2010 after spending time in Paris. Deeply influenced by the Art Deco style she encountered at an exhibition in the French capital, she developed a distinctive pictorial world populated by elegant figures inspired by the Roaring Twenties. Her work is characterized by geometric stylization and carefully divided areas of color, recalling the stained-glass art of the interwar period. In this painting, the artist transports us to a Parisian café in Montmartre, with a festive and refined atmosphere. Four elegantly dressed figures gather around small outdoor tables, in a scene evoking the pleasures and carefree spirit of the 1920s. In the background, the Sacré-Cœur rises above the Parisian rooftops, situating the scene in one of the capital’s most iconic neighborhoods. Bold colors — red, yellow, blue, green and white — are arranged in carefully defined planes outlined in black. The façades, chairs and clothing become graphic elements that structure the composition. The figures, with stylized silhouettes and expressive poses, seem to inhabit an almost theatrical setting, between elegant illustration and contemporary figurative painting. The work captivates with its visual energy, retro spirit and contemporary interpretation of Parisian elegance. The contrast between vibrant colors, graphic lines and architectural references creates a striking decorative composition, ideal for adding character to a modern interior or to a space dedicated to contemporary art.
