Rare signed quiver, a Yamato utsubo of high status from the Edo period (1603-1868). Estimated to be from the mid-Edo period in Japan, 17th/18th century. Traditional craftsmanship: braided wicker, leather, Japanese lacquer, boar hair. Golden Mokko emblem (melon) of different clans, the best known being the Oda family and its descendants. The interior of the quiver, 100 cm long by 15/12 cm, is gilded and signed by a maker, an Edo-period archery workshop: Katsuyama... Quiver of a daimyo or high-ranking Samurai, given the elements. Good overall condition, with some micro nicks as expected with the age of this quiver, but it has been kept with care. Secure payment and shipping with tracking number and signature on delivery.
