RARE COLLECTION OF MEDIEVAL KNIVES WITH DECORATED HANDLES

Ca. AD 1300 - 1600. A collection of four steel knives, including, from left to right: a slender knife with a tapering blade and a wooden grip terminating in an engraved animal motif; a long narrow knife with an elongated grip carved with repeating interlaced oval motifs; a broad-bladed knife with an ornamental grip decorated with scrolling foliate and geometric motifs; and a knife with a gently curved cutting edge, a wooden grip incised with linear decoration and a bifurcated terminal.
