Ca. 500 - 480 BC. A black-figure lekythos with a cylindrical body, narrow neck, flaring mouth, single strap handle, and disc foot. The base of the neck is decorated with short radiating strokes, and the shoulder with palmettes and dotted borders above the main figured panel depicting Athena seated on a diphros between two seated figures. Athena wears a crested helmet and long drapery, with her left hand raised. For a similar scene, see: Christie's, Live Auction 14573, Antiquities, Lot 216. Size: 255mm x 80mm; Weight: 420g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in the F. A. collection, Belgium, formed in the 1980s.
