Rare orange crocoite

From our selection of collectible minerals, we present a rare Crocoite in splendid crystal forms on matrix from the Adelaide Mine, Dundas, Tasmania. Moreover, it features prismatic and acicular crystals of intense orange-red color, well developed and grouped on a dark matrix rich in iron oxides, with good luster and transparency that enhance its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The specimen stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that emphasize its natural structure and visual impact. Crocoite is lead chromate (PbCrO4), whose intense orange-red color is due precisely to the presence of chromium in its crystal structure. It was from the analysis of specimens of Russian crocoite that, in 1797, chemist Louis-Nicolas Vauquelin discovered the element chromium. The Dundas area in Tasmania is globally regarded as the most important locality for the quality and beauty of crocoite crystals, often elongated and prismatic as in this specimen. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, even in the context of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for rare exceptions always noted in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
