Ca. AD 100 - 200. A plaster and linen funerary portrait mask with a youthful face, large eyes, a straight nose and thin lips. Short dark hair is arranged in a close fringe above the forehead. The separate hands are adorned with rings on the fingers. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA69020. Size: 150-280mm x 85-170mm; Weight: 1.8kg Provenance: Private London collection, ex. Schulman collection, Keizersgracht, Amsterdam. Private collection, Belgium, acquired from the above in 1969. The purchase is recorded in a March 1985 insurance document. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
