RARE SET OF SIX ROMAN LEAD NESTING CUP-WEIGHTS - EX CHRISTIE'S
Ca. AD 1 - 300. A graduated set of six lead cup-weights, each with a deep rounded body, thickened rim and low circular base, made in diminishing sizes to nest one within another. The three largest are incised respectively EXAC AD X CASTOR, EXA AD V CASTO and Δ Γ. Size: 60-155mm x 30-90mm; Weight: 6.29kg Provenance: Prince Collection, 1990s–2014; Ex. Gorny & Mosch, 24 June 2008. Lot 26. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
