Exceptional natural rough tsavorite of 3.00 carats, from Tanzania, selected for the remarkable intensity of its green, its luminosity and its particularly appealing crystalline character. Kept in its rough state, this piece reveals a superb natural architecture: areas of deep, highly saturated green, more transparent parts through which light passes, and numerous crystal surfaces producing especially lively flashes. A specimen of choice for lovers of rare garnets and African gem collection pieces. Technical characteristics - Stone: Tsavorite – green grossular garnet - Weight: 3.00 carats - Dimensions: 8.1 × 7.2 × 6.0 mm - Origin: Tanzania - Color: Intense green - Condition: Natural rough - Naturalness: 100% natural - Treatment: No treatment reported - Quality: Premium selection - Destination: Collection, gemology, mineralogical specimen An especially intense green color The first remarkable feature of this tsavorite is its vibrant green, a characteristic that has earned the international reputation of this garnet variety. The piece displays a very beautiful variation in saturation: some zones reveal a rich, deep green, while the more transparent parts become extremely luminous when traversed by light. This alternation creates a striking optical relief and allows the material to be observed from multiple angles. The many natural surfaces act as irregular mirrors, producing clear flashes and particularly enhancing the color of the specimen. Tsavorite: one of the most prestigious garnets Tsavorite belongs to the grossular garnet family. Its famous green color is mainly associated with the presence of vanadium and chromium in its crystal structure. Unlike many precious stones whose appearance can be artificially enhanced, tsavorite is particularly sought after for one essential characteristic: its magnificent color is naturally present in the gem, and tsavorites are traditionally sold without thermal treatment. This authenticity is one of the reasons why beautiful specimens today hold a privileged place in gemological collections. A history closely tied to East Africa The modern history of this gemstone is relatively recent. In the 1960s, British geologist and prospector Campbell Bridges discovered in Tanzania green grossular garnets of exceptional quality. Other deposits were later identified in Kenya. The stone was later named “tsavorite,” in reference to the Tsavo region, gradually becoming one of East Africa’s emblematic gems. In just a few decades, this variety, once virtually unknown, has become one of the most sought-after garnets by collectors and gemstone enthusiasts. A truly rare gem Tsavorite rarity is directly linked to its geology. Its formation requires the meeting of very particular geological and chemical conditions, found only in a few regions of the world. East African deposits are often challenging to mine and can yield irregular production. Finding rough material is one thing; obtaining crystals with beautiful green saturation, interesting transparency, and aesthetic quality is another. Beautiful quality natural specimens thus constitute a particularly sought-after portion of production. A particularly aesthetic 3-carat rough specimen With a weight of 3.00 carats and dimensions of 8.1 × 7.2 × 6.0 mm, this piece has a volume that allows full appreciation of its internal architecture and chromatic variations. The crystal shows a remarkable contrast between sustained green areas and lighter, more translucent zones. Its irregular surfaces, natural fractures, and growth ridges tell its geological story and give it a personality that cannot be replicated artificially. From different viewing angles, light penetrates deeply into certain areas and reveals particularly luminous green flashes, giving the specimen a remarkable visual presence. A true collector’s piece This tsavorite combines several criteria highly valued by collectors: Tanzanian origin, 3-carat weight, intense green color, rough state, and preserved naturalness. It represents a very fine acquisition for a collection dedicated to African gemstones, rare garnets, natural precious stones, or Tanzanian mineralogical specimens. Beyond its beauty, it also represents an intact fragment of East Africa’s exceptional geological history. A magnificent rough Tanzanian tsavorite, selected for its intense green, its luminosity, and its remarkable natural character, destined to find its place in a demanding collection of rare gemstones.
