Emilio Butragueño is a former Spanish footballer, twice named the “Bronze Ball” in 1986 and 1987 and included in the FIFA 100 list, among the 123 greatest footballers in history, among other distinctions. During his football career, he played as a forward and came through the Real Madrid Club de Fútbol youth ranks, where he headed a successful generation of players known as “La Quinta del Buitre,” in reference to his nickname, and he is the fourth all-time top scorer for the reserve team with 40 goals. He made his first-team debut in 1984 and won fifteen titles in his eleven seasons as a Madrid player before ending his active career in 1998 with Atlético Celaya in Mexico. He is regarded as one of the greatest figures both for the Madrid club—where he is also one of its top all-time scorers—and for Spanish football over time, having won 16 official titles and a runner-up finish in the European Championship for national teams. Due to his goals, achievements, and career, he was inducted by FIFA into the FIFA/FIFPro Hall of Fame in 2012."
