Every half hour and on the hour the clock, by striking a gong, tells what time it is. Wind the springs once a week and the clock is ready for the next period. The springs sit in a barrel, as is common with a quality clock. The photos are part of the description. Really a nice clock. A nice addition to the wall. The clock comes with a winding key.
