Relief, Scena di Cantina - 27.5 cm - Wood - 1970

An artisanal decorative panel made with a wood relief carving technique and polychromy, depicting a characteristic rustic scene set inside a wine cellar. Details of the Bas-Relief • The Figures: At the center three stylized human figures stand out. A man lies on the ground and seems supported or helped to rise by a second figure bent over him. On the left, a third man watches the scene, leaning against a wall, with one arm akimbo. • The Setting: The backdrop recreates a classic old-fashioned cellar. Large wooden barrels can be seen on the right and small jugs or flasks in the foreground to the left. The walls feature an etched pattern that simulates exposed bricks or stones, topped by arched structures. • Colors and Finish: The piece combines the natural grain of the wood with a light hand-applied coloration (green, blue, pink/red for the garments), finished with a protective coating that enhances its luster. The Context of the Image The painting hangs on a rustic pillar of stone and brick inside a traditional-style tavern or home. On either side of the sculpture are elements that complete the vintage atmosphere, such as old-style oil lamps, ceramic jugs, and a copper kettle placed near a fireplace in the background.
