ABSOLUTE RARITY - Grand Reliquary Shield in Quartz Crystal and Gold Filigree - Intact Episcopal Chancery Seal – Elite Sacred Art, 18th Century A masterpiece of sacred art from the 18th century intended for high private devotion. This piece of exceptional rarity is distinguished by its reliquary case entirely carved from a block of quartz crystal (natural quartz) with facet edges. The crystal is set in a sumptuous gilt bronze mount, richly adorned with remarkable filigree work of twisted wires and Baroque scrolls. In the center, beneath the crystal, there is a cross (containing the relic) on a background of hand-painted heraldic arms. Unviolated and certified as original: The back preserves its silk threads sealed by a very large red ecclesiastical chancery wax seal intact (depicting three holy figures enthroned beneath an architectural setting).
