Reliquary - Nacar - 1850-1900 - The Passion of Jesus Christ

This mother-of-pearl rosary originates from Jerusalem. It features a hinged reliquary cross beneath the INRI inscription. Its compartment contains a small fragment of olive wood, said to come from an olive tree associated with the Passion of Christ. The creamy, subtly iridescent beads are linked by metal loops and chain sections. The rosary is accompanied by a green presentation case with dark textile lining and a gilt retailer’s inscription. Condition: Good overall antique presentation, with age-related wear to the metalwork. Provenance: Private collection in Spain.
