The device was manufactured by the renowned VEB Messelektronik “Otto Schön” Dresden (RFT) and is a milestone of acoustic measurement technology in the Eastern Bloc. This highly precise, battery-powered laboratory instrument served as a sound level calibrator for the exact calibration of measurement microphones and sound level meters. It mechanically generates a defined sound pressure level via piston stroke (approximately 118 dB at 180 Hz).
