Richard Durando-Togo (1910) - Women in the Market

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 92 × 110 cm. This genre scene depicts a group of women in an everyday market setting, rendered with a personal pictorial language in which light and shadow interplay to create an immersive and evocative atmosphere. The composition is notable for the balance between the figures and their surroundings, as well as for the serene expressiveness of the female characters, a recurring theme in the artist’s work. Durando-Togo, of Argentinian origin and self-taught, developed his career primarily in Italy and France, where he consolidated a style recognizable for its chromatic sensitivity and its interest in everyday life.
