Richard Ginori - Mondovi - Tea service (11) - Porcelain, Ceramic

4-person tea service set – Richard Ginori, Mondovì manufactory – Hand-decorated “Walterabile” Elegant and sought-after Italian tea service signed Richard Ginori, produced at the historic Mondovì manufactory, as evidenced by the original mark on the bottom. The service is enriched by the refined hand decoration Walterabile, today increasingly appreciated by collectors for its graphic sobriety and its strongly modern character. The design stands out for a rationalist and Deco language, with essential cylindrical shapes and an elegant play of horizontal bands in brown / sepia tones, paired with slim black lines on an ivory-white background. A balanced composition, measured and with great taste, typical of the best Italian productions from the 1930s to the 1940s. The cups have a versatile, intermediate measure: more like tea than coffee, also ideal as a refined breakfast service. This service belongs to Richard Ginori’s prewar phase of stylistic renewal, anticipating that path of modernization of the formal language which the manufactory would fully develop in the postwar period, also thanks to central figures such as Antonia Campi. Although not directly attributed to the designer, the service foreshadows its cultural climate, oriented toward functionality, purity of form, and dialogue with modern architecture. Composition of the service: • 4 tea cups • 4 matching saucers • 1 teapot • 1 sugar box with lid • 1 milk jug Conditions: Good / very good overall condition. Normal signs of wear consistent with age and use, visible mainly on the bottom of some pieces. No cracks or chips to report; decorations well preserved and glazes still bright. An elegant, complete, and increasingly rare service, ideal for collectors of Richard Ginori porcelain, lovers of early 20th-century Italian design, and the great tradition of the applied arts. #architecturedining
