A highly attractive vintage 1980s Claddagh ring in gold, set with eight natural brilliant-cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of approximately 0.30 ct. The diamonds are arranged within the heart and framed in contrasting white gold, which enhances their brightness and creates a particularly elegant contrast against the warm yellow-gold body of the ring. The Claddagh is one of the most recognisable and meaningful designs in traditional Irish jewellery. Its three principal elements each carry a specific symbolism: the heart represents love, the hands represent friendship, and the crown represents loyalty. Together, they form a design associated with devotion, commitment and enduring affection, making Claddagh rings particularly popular as sentimental gifts, engagement rings and heirloom pieces. This example is especially appealing because of its diamond-set heart, which gives the traditional form a much more refined and luxurious character. The use of white gold around the diamonds further emphasises the stones and gives the ring a distinctive two-tone appearance while preserving the classic sculptural form of the Claddagh design. The ring is fully hallmarked and tested. Metal: Yellow gold with white-gold diamond setting Design: Traditional Claddagh ring Gemstones: 8 natural brilliant-cut diamonds Estimated total diamond weight: approximately 0.30 ct Symbolism: Heart for love, hands for friendship, crown for loyalty Hallmarks: Fully hallmarked Period: Vintage Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with only light signs of wear consistent with age and previous use.
