Rockland, Maine. Rockland Bank. 1860 $10. PCGS Currency Very Fine 20.

Rockland, Maine. Rockland Bank. 1860 $10. PCGS Currency Very Fine 20. No. 2773. Plate A. Here's a fortunate survivor from Maine that survived a ruthless redemption effort. Issued by the Rockland Bank during the late 1850s, this evenly circulated $10 Obsolete was redeemed in practice as evidenced by the cancellations evident in the signature panels, but was kept for reasons unknown after it was presented. Whether it was sentiment or a numismatic consideration made by some nameless bank employee long ago, bidders have much to appreciate including the penned signatures of Cashier William H. Titcomb and President Alfred H. Kimball which lend this very note a tangible connection to this institution's early years as a National Bank as both men served in their positions through 1867. This institution ultimately became the Rockland National Bank (Charter# 1446) in 1865. PCGS Currency comments "Hole Punch Cancelled." Estimate: $800 - $1,200. Provenance: From the Caine Collection. Whitman Plate Note.

Estimate:£358.89
