Roger Gobron (1899–1985) - Portret

Portrait with Character – oil on paper – Roger Gobron (1899–1985), Belgian school. This powerful work was created by the renowned Belgian artist Roger Gobron (1899–1985). The scene shows a moodful and intimate portrait of a man at a simple table, with a bowl and a terracotta jug in the background. The man is bent forward in a moment of quiet contemplation. With a highly expressive, layered brushwork and a warm, sober color palette of deep blue, earth tones and warm ochre, Gobron captures a raw and emotionally charged atmosphere. The influence of Belgian Expressionism and the social realist tradition is masterfully felt in this striking character study. Stylishly framed painting in a classical gold frame with a mat (dimensions without the frame: H 65 cm x W 50 cm), in very good, authentic condition and bottom right correctly signed "Gobron". A special and beautiful work from the Belgian Modernist School. IMPORTANT: Given the value, size and/or fragility, this artwork must be collected!
