Rorstrand - Marianne Westman - Baking dish - model 26...

Rörstrand – Picnic serving/oven dish no. 26 – Marianne Westman 1918-2017 – Sweden, circa 1956–1969 Original rectangular dish from the Picnic series by Rörstrand, designed by Marianne Westman (1918-2017). The series has been produced since 1956 and is part of the recognizable examples of Swedish design from the 1950s and 1960s. The exact production year of this dish has not been established. The dish is made of glazed earthenware and features a colorful decoration of stylized vegetables and herbs along the inner edge. The playful black lines and accents in blue, turquoise, green, yellow and red contrast nicely with the light surface. On the underside is the original factory mark with the indications ‘Picnic – Rörstrand – Sweden – Handpainted – 26 – Ovenware’. The designation ‘Ovenware’ refers to its original use as a baking dish. The generous, shallow format also makes the piece attractive as a serving dish or as a decorative collectible.
