Rosenthal - Johan van Loon - Vase (2) - Fun O`Fant - Porcelain

Dear Bidders, You are bidding on pair of Rosenthal Studio-Line “Fun o’fant” elephant vases, designed by Johan van Loon. The playful, sculptural forms feature raised trunks and bold black, grey and white graphic decoration, giving the pieces a whimsical, Pop Art-inspired character. SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS: Johan van Loon (1934–2020) was a Dutch ceramicist and textile artist, born in Rotterdam. He studied textile design in Amsterdam and began working for Rosenthal in 1980. The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen describes his development from throwing pots on a potter’s wheel to constructing forms from thinly rolled sheets of clay, as well as his experiments with materials, porcelain and decoration.
