Royal Doulton Advertising Figurine, Dulux Dog MCL17

Introduced in 1931 by ICI and DuPont, Dulux, its name derived from "Durable" and "Luxury," revolutionized the paint industry with a hard wearing, easy to apply alkyd formula initially developed for professional decorators. Expanding into the retail market in 1953, the brand became a leader in DIY products and, in 1961, introduced its iconic Old English Sheepdog mascot. This limited-edition example, numbered 386 of 750, models the Dulux mascot as a seated Old English Sheepdog, its right front paw resting on a miniature paint can labeled "ICI Dulux Gloss Finish." The figure is set on an integral oval base printed with the slogan, "Dulux is a Home's Best Friend." Hand decorated in tons of white and charcoal gray with a glossy finish, the underside bears the Royal Doulton backstamp. Includes certificate of authenticity.
