ruffony - Oscar Ruffony (1874-1946) - Mascot - Chien assis - Bronze, Metal

Old car mascot depicting a seated dog, Ruffony signed – radiator cap – early 20th century Description Old automobile mascot representing a seated dog, mounted on its period radiator cap. The sculpture presents a beautiful attitude, with detailed work on the head, coat and musculature. It bears on the base a relief signature “Ruffony,” clearly visible in the photographs. The mascot has been detached from the cap to allow examination of its construction. It is hollow and weighs about 420 g alone. Total weight with the radiator cap: about 560 g. An магнит test was also performed: the mascot is not magnetic. The material shows different tones visible where the patina is worn, ranging from metallic gray to coppery/bronzish hues. In the absence of metallurgical analysis, the exact metal composition is deliberately not stated. The piece retains an old dark patina, with many signs of wear, rubbing and finish loss corresponding to its age and use. These marks have been deliberately preserved and no major restoration has been undertaken. The metal cap also shows signs of age and superficial oxidation, particularly on its inner part and its fastening system. This mascot is a fine object of antique automobilia, particularly decorative for a collection devoted to vintage automobiles, radiator caps and early 20th century automobile mascots.
